The tease of Electro's survival was something Sony never had the chance to pay off. Although Peter Parker believed he permanently got rid of Electro as a result of their battle, Sony certainly wanted to leave viewers with the impression that he wasn't dead. The power bar that remained from Electro eventually flickered with power. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 originally made it seem as though Electro died, but the movie included a tease that he could return. Electro is only defeated when Spider-Man overloads him with power and electricity, which causes him to explode. This culminated with Electro and Spider-Man battling at an Oscorp power plant.
